Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
inseparable friends and diehard lovers
Walking hand in hand on the path of life;
their shadows becoming one with time
Fate playing merrily, its shiny golden fife;
deep lines etched on faces, still in prime
Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
unaware of each other, intent under covers
Acting like true enemies, sworn and so old;
curved scimitars drawn, ready to draw blood
Love banishing betrayal – a move so bold;
betrayal hiding, a yellow scorpion in the mud
Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
trust – a formidable wall as betrayal discovers
Betrayal tries to sneak in, looking for a door;
faith guards all doors, it stands a steady vigil
With each try, love becomes strong as a boar;
and trust becomes absolute, bound by a sigil
Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
distance pulls them closer, no gaps no buffers
Betrayal seeks an audience, love shuns it away;
betrayal is insistent, love just stands its ground
But the light hides in the shadows, sky so grey;
hope breathes its last, loud barks the hell hound
Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
fate has one last dagger, which she recovers
Desire whispers to love – a poison so sweet;
promises of pleasure, prospect of deniability
Love finally surrenders and agrees to cheat;
it embraces betrayal, forgetting all nobility
Love and betrayal – two friends and lovers;
desire is guilt in the end, as love discovers
Love pushes betrayal away, it doesn’t let go;
‘Why?’ love asks engaged in a deadly struggle
‘Listen!’ betrayal whispers, ‘if you must know’;
‘we are two balls that the fate must juggle’
